LIBERAL — The Hesston College men’s basketball team finished 0-2 Friday and Saturday at the Seward County Community College Classic in Liberal.
Hesston played a pair of NJCAA Division I Jayhawk Conference teams.
On Friday, Hesston lost to Barton County 85-67. Hesston trailed 44-30 at the half.
Devin Loyd scored 19 points for Hesston, followed by Kris Sponslor with 13, Alex Roth with 11 and Rickey Vick with 10.
Latiq Agard led Seward County with 25 points. Donte McCarter scored 12 points. Jon Tossin scored 11 points. Robert Sigala, Marky Nolan and Marcus James scored 10 points each. Newton grad Isaiah Thaw played for Seward County with no stats and four fouls.
On Saturday, Hesston fell to host Barton County 77-69. Barton led 32-24 at the half. Karon Burrton led Barton County with 24 points. Dennan Morrow added 17 points.
Sponsler led Hesston with 23 points. Roth scored 14 points with 11 rebounds Vick scored 13 points.
