Young leads Drake over Shockers

Josh Young had 16 points and a key three-point play down the stretch to help Drake beat Wichita State 74-69 Sunday in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Drake (13-4, 3-1) closed the game on a 7-2 run in the final 1:38 of the game.
Wichita State’s Graham Hatch tied it at 67 with two free with 2:23 remaining. But the Shockers (6-10, 0-5) got only one more basket down the stretch.
Young’s three-point play with 1:38 remaining broke the tie and Craig Stanley scored the last four points for the Bulldogs.
Josh Parker had 15 points, Jonathan Cox added 13 and Stanley 12 for Drake.
The Shockers were led by Clevin Hannah with 22 points and Toure Murray with 19.
Wichita State led 40-36 at the half but shot 35 percent in the second half.
