HESSTON —

The Hesston College men’s soccer team opened the season with a 9-1 loss to the Wichita State University soccer club team Wednesday afternoon at the HC field.

Geverton Ost scored for the Larks late in the game.

“Our biggest thing right now is organiztion,” Hesston coach Kurt Hostetler said. “We have a very young team. Our defense is all freshman. They’re trying to work together and keep organized. It’s going to take us time to come together. We didn’t start practice until a week ago. We’re trying to work out the kinks and get the bugs out. We have a lot of team speed. We just have to work to stay together and get organized.”

Hesston hosts Western Texas College, a first-year program, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the HC field.
