The Swathers used a 13-4 second-quarter run to take a 21-14 lead at the half.
Kelcie Frey led Hesston with 15 points.
Becca Mayer led Hoisington with seven points.
The Swathers play Friday at Ellinwood.

HALSTEAD — The Halstead High School girls’ basketball team held off the Sterling Black Bears 49-43 Tuesday in MCAA play in Halstead.
Halstead led 28-26 at the half and 40-37 after three quarters. The Dragons hit seven of nine free throws in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.
Alexi Bohling led Halstead with 16 points. Marissa Vermillion scored 14 points.
Halstead plays Friday at Hillsboro.

Burrton trailed 12-8 at the half, holding Cunningham to nine points in the second half, scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Ashley Friesen led Burrton with 15 points, followed by Valerie Wallsten with 14.
Kristen Fischer scored seven points to lead Cunningham.
Burrton hosts Attica Friday.

Danielle Savage led Peabody-Burns with nine points. Kendra Flaming scored 12 points for Goessel.

WHITEWATER — The Remington Bronco girls’ basketball team used a 13-2 run in overtime to stop the Sedgwick Cardinals 65-54 Tuesday in Heart of America League play.
The game was tied 21-21 at the half, 38-38 after three quarters and 52-52 after regulation.
Remington outscored Sedgwick 33-10 at the free throw line, 9-2 in overtime. Sedgwick outscored Remington 12-0 from 3-point range.
Quin Tillotson scored 20 points for Remington, followed by Katie Regier with 19 and Shelby Beougher with 10. Regier scored six points in overtime, hitting four of four free throws.
Laramie Lawrence scored 15 points for Sedgwick. Jamie Douvier scored 14 points. Sandra Douvier scored 11.

Berean trailed 17-12 at the half, but came back to tie it at the end of the third quarter. Inman outscored Berean 10-6 in the second overtime.
Mishaun Pfannenstiel scored 32 points, followed by Kendra Ely with 10 points.
Janelle Rust led Berean Academy with 20 points. Kayla Wigers added 13 points.
Berean Academy plays Friday at Hutchinson Trinity.

HESSTON — The second-ranked (KBCA, Class 4A) Hesston Swathers claimed an 81-44 win over Hoisington Tuesday in Mid-Central Activities Association play in Hesston.
The Swathers led 51-16 at the half.
Cole Jost led Hesston with 16 points, followed by Alex Roth with 15, Rob Moore with 12 and Michael Janzen with 10. Every player listed in the scorebook for Hesston scored.
Jerad Powell led Hoisington with 16, followed by Justin Axman with 11.
Hesston is 8-0 and plays Friday at Ellinwood.

Down 15-10 after the first quarter, the Dragons took a 31-20 lead at the half. Halstead’s defense took over in the second half.
Taylor Glassco and Tyler Armendariz scored 11 points each for Halstead.
Matt Foster scored eight points for Sterling.
Halstead plays Friday at Hillsboro.

Up 23-20 at the half, Burrton pulled away 42-32 at the end of the third quarter.
Cody Beat scored 22 points for Cunningham. Jarrett Ziegler scored 11 points.
Burrton hosts Attica Friday.

WHITEWATER — Jake Napper scored 21 points and Bryce Dovier added 19 to lead the Sedgwick Cardinals to a 76-47 win over the Remington Broncos Tuesday in Heart of America League play.
Sedgwick, 8-1 and ranked fifth in the Class 3A state coaches poll, won its eighth straight game.
Sedgwick had things in hand early, leading 48-19 at the half.
Jake Green scored 18 points for Remington. Cole Cherryholmes added 11 points.
Remington plays Friday at Little River. Sedgwick plays Friday at home against Ell-Saline.

Austin Unruh scored 12 points for Goessel. Niko Herman added nine points.
Goessel falls to 5-3, 0-3 in HOAL play. The Bluebirds drop their third straight. Goessel plays Friday at Bennington.
