Hesston women
fall to Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON — The Hesston College women’s soccer team fell to unbeaten Hutchinson Community College 11-0 Monday at the USD 308 Athletic Complex in Hutchinson.
Hutchinson improves to 10-0-1, 8-0 in NJCAA Region VI play. Hutchinson sets a school record of 93 goals with five regular-season games remaining.
Elisha Schultz tied a school record for goals in a game at five. Caitlyn Coney scored four goals. Alisha Cooper and Amelia Anderson each scored a goal with an assist.
Emily Toews had 13 saves in goal for Hesston. The Larks didn’t record a shot in the game.
Hesston falls to 0-11, 0-8 in Region VI play. Hesston hosts Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bethel golfers
fifth at Bethany

SALINA — The Bethel College golf team tied for fifth Monday at the Bethany Invitational at the Salina Municipal Golf Course and the Salina Elks Country Club.
Host Bethany won the tournament at 573, followed by Hastings at 596, Bethany 2 at 601 and John Brown at 615.
Bethel tied with Southwestern Christian at 621. Bethel 2 took 12th at 692.
Bethel was led by Jordan Esau, who tied for ninth at 150, 12 strokes off the lead. John Reimer was tied for 21st at 155.
Bethel ends the fall season Oct. 19 and 20 at the Missouri Valley Fall Invitational in Marshall, Mo.

Hesston College
spikers fall

CHANUTE — The Hesston College volleyball team fell to Neosho County Community College in three games Saturday in Chanute.
Hesston fell 25-19, 25-10, 25-18.
“We struggled with our serve receive and defense, but our hitters did a better job of finishing,” Hesston coach Kristen Rhodes said. “Hannah (Hoffman) had quite a few kills out of the back row and Sherrese (Ediger), Danielle (Minder) and Malerie (Hertzler) were solid on the front row.”
Hesston is 1-18, 0-6 in NJCAA Division II, Region VI play. Hesston hosts Cloud County Community College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Canton-Galva tourney

CANTON — The Hillsboro High School volleyball team won the Canton-Galva Invitational Saturday in Canton.
Hillsboro went 3-0 in pool play, downed Hesston in the semifinals 25-20, 25-14; and downed Moundridge in the finals 25-14, 23-25, 25-23.
Halstead took third place, downing Hesston 22-25, 25-16, 25-13 in the third-place match.
Hillsboro is 18-5 and plays at 5 p.m. today at Marion. Halstead is 10-17 and also plays at 5 p.m. today at Marion. Hesston is 15-9 and hosts Smoky Valley and Wichita Collegiate at 5 p.m. today. Moundridge is 16-6 and hosts Berean Academy and Bennington at 4 p.m. today.

BURRTON — The Cheney Cardinals downed Smoky Valley to win the Burrton Invitational Saturday in Burrton.
Quivira Heights won the third-place match against Sterling.
Berean Academy and Burrton each finished 1-2 in pool play.

Tabor men
fall to OCU

HILLSBORO — The Tabor College men’s soccer team fell to Oklahoma Christian University 8-1 Monday at Joel Wiens Stadium in Hillsboro.
Tabor trailed 4-0 at the half.
Tyler Brady and Trey Boykin each scored two goals for OCU, 6-2-1. Pablo Hernandez scored a goal with two assists.
Robert Masson scored for Tabor with an assist from David Simmet. David Fleming had 11 saves in goal for Tabor.
The Bluejays are 4-5-1 and play at 8 p.m. Wednesday at McPherson.
Saturday, Tabor downed Saint Mary 2-1 in Leavenworth. Andy Adrian and Robert Masson scored goals for the Bluejays.

fall to Peru State

HILLSBORO — The Tabor College football team fell to Peru State 19-7 Saturday at Joel Wiens Stadium in Hillsboro.
Peru State led 14-0 at the half, scoring on a one-yard Curtis Thompson run and a 31-yard interception return by Max Virus.
Josh Noojin added a five-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Tabor scored in the fourth quarter on a Daniel Jost touchdown reception of 24 yards from Marc Amos.
Tabor falls to 0-4. Peru State is 2-3. Tabor hosts conference leader Ottawa at 2 p.m. Saturday.
