MCAA Central

Halstead

at Wichita Collegiate

Wichita Collegiate, 5-0, can win the division title outright with a win. Halstead, 3-2, can land itself in a three-way tie for first (on fewest losses) with a win. Collegiate is coming off a 49-3 win over Haven last week, while Halstead beat Nickerson 14-0 for its second shutout of the season. Collegiate’s Tyler Coughenour has 293 yards rushing. Tre Bailey has 225 yards passing with four touchdowns, followed by Blake Jablonski with 194 yards. Halstead’s Tyler Armendariz has 412 yards rushing (Halstead stats for four games). Tyler Ratzlaff has 167 yards passing.

Haven at Hesston

Hesston, 4-1, needs a win over Haven coupled with a Halstead win over Collegiate for a share of the division title. Hesston downed Smoky Valley 37-30 on the road last week. Haven, 1-4, fell to Collegiate 49-3. Landon Unruh leads the Hesston rushing effort with 439 yards and five touchdowns. Michael Janzen has 422 yards and three touchdowns. Janzen also has 126 yards passing with two touchdowns. The Swathers are averaging just under 300 yards rushing a game. Rob Moore has 100 yards receiving and a touchdown. Janzen has 23 total tackles. Ott has 22 total tackles.

MCAA Mid

Hoisington at Hillsboro

Hillsboro. 4-1, downed Sterling 28-14 last week while Hoisington, 3-2, was blanked by Marion 6-0. Hoisington needs a win to stay in the division race. Hillsboro can afford a loss but would need to beat Marion in the final week of the season.

Ellinwood at Marion

Marion, 4-1, downed Hoisington 6-0 last week while Ellinwood, 2-3, lost a non-league game to LaCrosse 50-14. A Marion win coupled with a Hoisington win would clinch a tie for the division title for the Warriors.

Heart of America

Hutchinson Trinity

at Moundridge

Moundridge, 4-1, is on a three-game winning streak after a 53-6 win over Bennington last week. Trinity, 3-2, lost to Ell-Saline 26-13 for its first loss in league play. The winner would need an Ell-Saline loss in the final two weeks of the season for a share of the league title. The loser would need two Ell-Saline losses, along with another loss for the winner for a league tie. Through five games, Moundridge’s Jayson Kaufman is closing in on the 1,000-yard mark with 871 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Moundridge is averaging 365 yards rushing per game. Brian Begnoche has 150 yards passing with two touchdowns. Tanner Engweiler has 408 yards rushing for Trinity. Derek Racette has 745 yards passing with six touchdowns.

Remington at Ell-Saline

Remington, 3-2, got back on the winning side of the ledger with a 22-12 win over Inman.

Ell-Saline, 5-0, can clinch a tie for the league title win a win. The Cardinals downed Hutchinson Trinity 26-13 to keep a one-game lead over Moundridge.

Inman at Sedgwick

Inman, 2-3, lost to Remington 22-12 last week while Sedgwick downed Peabody-Burns 56-6 to improve to 3-2 and claim its first league win of the season.

Peabody-Burns at Bennington

Peabody-Burns, 0-5, lost to Sedgwick 56-6 last week while Bennington lost to Moundridge 53-6.

Eight-Man I, District 4

(HOAL Eight-Man)

Goessel at Little River

Goessel, 5-0, looks to move a step closer to a state playoff berth while Little River, 3-2, needs a win to stay in the district race. Goessel also looks to open defense of its Heart of America League eight-man title. Goessel downed Stafford 52-7 last week while Little River downed Hutchinson Central Christian in a non-district game. Craig Banman has 456 yards rushing with 10 touchdowns, followed by Travis Fensky with 263 yards and three scores and Austin Unruh with 194 yards and four scores. Banman also has 237 yards receiving with six touchdowns, followed by Fensky with 113 yards and two scores. Unruh has 545 yards passing and 12 touchdowns. Unruh has 17 total tackles, followed by Jonathan Berkholz and Fensky with 15 each.

Eight-Man II, District 5

(Heart of the Plains League)

Cunningham at Burrton

Burrton, 1-4, fell to Attica 64-48 last week while Cunningham, 5-0, downed Chase 50-24.

Eight-Man II, District 3

Waverly at Centre

Centre, 1-4, picked up its first win of the season, stopping Elk Valley 54-8. Waverly, 0-5, lost to St. Paul 48-18. If Centre wins, the Cougars would likely need just one more win over either White City or St. Paul to clinch a playoff spot.
