Area gymnasts compete at Missouri Valley meet

NEWTON —

Members of the Flip-Flop Shop gymnastics team competed May 2 and 3 at the AAU Missouri Valley District Championships.

The meet featured all of the AAU teams from Kansas and Missouri.

“The competitive season is over for the year, and the team will now be focused on strength and conditioning for the higher level skills so they can move up and compete at a new level next fall,” Flip-Flop Shop director JoAnne Thaw said.

Flip-Flop results are listed below:

Level 4 age 9: Carlye Anderson scored 9.1 on vault, 10th place; 8.5 on uneven bars, 7th place; 8.65 on beam, 6th place; 8.6 on floor, 7th place; and 34.85 all around, 6th pl.

Level 5 age 9: Kailey Naysmith scored 7.6 vault, 5th; 7.3 uneven bars, 5th; 8.05 beam, 5th; 8.75 floor, 3rd; and 31.7 all around, 5th.

Level 6 age 10 and under: Carli McCloud scored 9.6 on vault, 1st; 8.2 unevens 2nd tie; 8.45 beam, 3rd; 9.4 floor ex, 1st; and 35.65 all around, 2nd

Level 6 age 13 and up: Mikayla Hiebert scored 8.2 on vault, 5th; 7.8 unevens, 4th; 8.0 beam, 4th tie; 8.0 floor, 5th; 32.0 all around, 5th
