STERLING — The Hillsboro Trojan girls’ basketball team advanced to the Class 3A sub-state finals with a 60-27 win over the Sedgwick Cardinals Friday in semifinal play in Sterling.
Hillsboro, 17-5, faces Remington at 6 p.m. today in Sterling with the winner advances to state.
Hillsboro broke to a 22-2 lead after the first quarter and led 34-7 at the half.
Dakota Kaufman led Hillsboro with 14 points. Freshman Tena Loewen added 10 points.
Haley Bright and Riley Busenitz scored six points each for Hillsboro, which ends the season 10-12.

STERLING — The Remington Bronco girls downed Southeast of Saline 46-31 Friday in Class 3A sub-state play in Sterling.
The Broncos trailed 9-8 after the first period but took a 20-11 halftime lead.
Katie Regier led Remington with 18 points. Quin Tillotson added 14.
Southeast was led by Christine Russell with eight points.
Remington is 17-5 and plays Hillsboro at 6 p.m. today in the finals in Sterling.

Hesston 60, Andale 53
HESSTON — The Hesston Swather boys’ basketball team is headed to the Class 4A sub-state finals for the third straight year, stopping Andale 60-53 Friday in semifinal play in Hesston.
Tied 26-26 at the half, Hesston edged out a 44-42 lead after three quarters and pulled away down the stretch.
Taylor Redding led Hesston with 28 points, hitting 13 of 16 free throws.
Bret Archer led Andale with 16 points. Dylan Hawkins scored 15. Cole Meierhoff scored 11. Andale ends the season 10-11.
Hesston, 16-6, meets Nickerson at 7:30 p.m. today in the finals. Nickerson downed Buhler 61-34.
