Marion golfers head to state after regionals

The Marion Warrior golfers are headed for the Class 3A state tournament after a regional win Monday at the Osage City Country Club.

Marion downed Council Grove for the team title 348-401. Both teams qualify for state. Leon-Bluestem took third at 404, followed by Osage City at 405, Eureka at 442, West Franklin at 471, Central Heights at 481, Remington at 503 and Northern Heights at 514.

Jake Bredemier led the Warriors at 85 to take second, winning a playoff over teammates Keith Jones and Luke Gordon. Landon Leiker downed teammate Ollie Gemfors for seventh. Both shot a 93.

Remington’s Sanders claimed the final individual qualifying spot with a 96.

The state tournament is Monday at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.

LEONARDVILLE — The Peabody-Burns golf team won the sand greens regionals Monday at the Leonardville Golf Club.

The Warriors shot a team score of 324. Chase County and Yates Center tied for second at 355. Riley County shot a 357.

The state tournament is Monday at the Mankato Country Club.

WASHINTON — The Centre High School golf team placed second at the Class 1A regionals Monday at the Cedar Hills Golf Course in Washington.

Leavenworth Immaculata won the tournament at 385, followed by Centre at 410 and Hartford at 419. The top three qualified for state. Linn shot a 437, followed by Centralia at 445 and Olpe at 459.

The state tournament is Monday at the Dodge City Country Club.

EL DORADO — Hesston High School senior golfer John Reimer qualified for the Class 4A state tournament with a seventh-place individual finish Monday in the regional tournament at the Prairie Trails Country Club in El Dorado.

Reimer shot an 81

Andover won the team title at 322, followed by Andover Central at 328. The top two teams qualify for state. Hesston finished third at 345, followed by Augusta at 346.

The state tournament is Monday at the Stagg Hill Golf Course in Manhattan.

DERBY — Halstead High School golfer Abram Rodenberg qualified for the Class 3A state tournament with a seventh-place finish Monday in the regional tournament at the Hidden Lakes Golf Course in Derby.

Rodenberg shot an 85.

Wichita Collegiate and Wichita Independent were the team qualifiers at 331 and 351 respectively. Halstead had a 385 to place fifth. Sedgwick was seventh at 409.

The state meet is Monday at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.
