The Newton High School softball team dropped a pair of games Friday to Salina South in the regular-season finale at Kelsch Field.
The first game was won by South 11-0 in five innings on the 10-run rule. Newton was held to one hit in the game.Heather Torres took the loss for the Railers.South won the second game 7-2. Freshman Jade Southern took the loss in the second game. Newton was hampered by five errors in the second game. Both Railer runs came in the bottom of the seventh to avoid a second straight shutout.Newton ends the regular-season 10-10 and opens regional play next week.
