Wingnuts fall to St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. —

The Wichita Wingnuts returned from the American Association All-Star Break with a 4-2 loss to the St. Paul Saints Wednesday in St. Paul.

Mark Romanczuk went 7 1-3 innings for the Saints to get the win, allowing a run on five hits with three strikeouts, improving to 2-0. Tony Pierce struck out three in 1 1-3 innings for the save, his 14th of the season.

Tim Brown led St. Paul at the plate, posing three hits with a run scored and an RBI. Tony Mansolino had a home run and two RBIs.

St. Paul is 10-10 in the second half of the season, while Wichita falls to 8-12. The two teams play again at 7:05 p.m.

SIOUX FALLS, Iowa — Three members of the Wichita Wild competed at the United Indoor Football All-Star Game Saturday at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux Falls.

All three played for the East stars, which fell to the West 57-39.

Receiver Donald Payne had four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. Eric Washington played on defense, posting five tackles. Scott Robinson played on the offensive line.
