Thresher gridders fall to Southwestern

Misssed kicks costly for BC

WINFIELD — The struggles continue for the Bethel College football team in a 21-20 loss to Southwestern College Saturday in Winfield.
Both teams are 2-6, 2-5 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Bethel missed an extra-point kick and three field goal attempts in the game.
Southwestern took the lead with 45 seconds left in the half, returning a fumble for a touchdown. The Moundbuilders were held to 211 yards total offense, 0 yards rushing.
Bethel fullback Jeremy Newhouse rushed for a touchdown and caught a pass for a touchdown. Jarret Abell also caught a touchdown pass for the Threshers.
Jeff Schaefer caught two touchdown passes from freshman quarterback Jordam Barrett.
Bethel returns home for the final two games of the season, hosting McPherson at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
