SEDGWICK — The Sedgwick Cardinal boys defended its home court, stopping the Bennington Bulldogs 52-46 Friday in HOAL play.
Sedgwick led 22-19 at the half and 41-27 after three quarters.
Bryce Douvier led Sedgwick with 16 points. Elliott Money added 14 points. Daniel Vogt scored 11.
Jon Garrett scored 16 points for Bennington, followed by Zach Fief with 11 and Dakota Rohleder with 10. Bennington falls to 6-9, 2-4 in HOAL play.
Sedgwick is 9-5, 5-2 in HOAL play. Sedgwick hosts Hutchinson Trinity Tuesday.

WHITEWATER — The Remington Bronco boys claimed a 60-38 win over Ell-Saline Friday in Heart of America League play in rural Whitewater.
Remington led 31-15 at the half.
Jake Green led Remington with 15 points. Caleb Cherryholmes scored 13 and Matt Jacobs scored 12. Remington is 8-6, 3-3 in HOAL play.
Ell-Saline falls to 3-10, 0-5 in HOAL play.
Remington plays Tuesday at Berean Academy.

The Newton High School freshman girls’ basketball team used a 16-5 fourth quarter to rally for a 48-39 win over Derby Friday at Willis Gym.
Newton led 25-24 at the half, but trailed 34-32 after three quarters.
Tuesday’s game against Arkansas City was canceled. Newton plays Friday at Goddard.

The Newton middle schools eighth-grade A boys’ basketball team ended the season with a 1-1 finish in the Pioneer League Division I tournament at Lindley Hall.
Newton opened play with a 48-45 overtime win over Derby White. In the semifinals, Newton lost to top-seeded Hutchinson 48-16.
Newton ends the season 6-9.
