The Newton High School bowling team claimed a sweep of Maize South Monday at Eastgate Lanes.
The Railer boys downed Maize South 2,354-2,208. Austin Jones led the Railers with a high series of 639, followed by Sam Kier at 636. Alex Patterson of Maize was third at 595.
Newton’s Tyler Jones had the top game of 251, followed by Kier at 242 and Patterson at 234.
The Railer girls downed Maize South 2,095-1,834.
Cassidy Ashcraft had the Railers’ high series of 621, followed by Anastacia Wacker at 532 and Maize South’s Ashley Barr at 507.
Ashcraft had the top three games of 216, 212 and 193.
The Newton junior varsity boys claimed a win over Maize South 2,070-1,684. Matt Malo had the high series of 611. Malo had the high game of 257.
The Railer JV girls downed Maize South 1,498-1,331. The Railers were led by Mollie Schwabauer at 483. Schwabauer had the high game of 180.
The Railers compete at 4 p.m. today against Maize at West Acres Bowl in Wichita.
