Hoisington, 2-1, downed Sterling 48-7.Heart of America LeagueMoundridge at RemingtonAfter a loss to Bennington in week two, Remington rebounded by stopping Peabody-Burns 28-26 to improve to 2-1. Moundridge also rebounded for a loss to down Sedgwick 35-20. Moundridge running back Jayson Kaufman has 562 yards rushing with three touchdowns. Lance Loganbill has 28 total tackles this season.Peabody-Burns at Hutchinson TrinityPeabody-Burns fell to 0-3 with a 28-26 loss to Remington last week. Hutchinson Trinity improved to 2-1 with a 34-0 win over Inman, the Celtics’ second shutout in league play this season. Trinity’s Derek Racette hit 13 of 32 passes for 415 yards with three interceptions and four touchdowns. Tanner Engweiler rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Michael Mesh has 115 yards receiving with two touchdowns.Ell-Saline at SedgwickEll-Saline improved to 3-0 with a 48-14 win over Bennington last week while Sedgwick fell to 2-1 with a 35-20 loss to Moundridge. This game will be a must-win game for Sedgwick to keep pace in the league.Eight-Man I, District 4Claflin at GoesselGoessel opened district play last week with a 54-8 win over Fairfield, improving to 3-0 overall. The Bluebirds gave up their first points of the season. Claflin opened district play with a 54-6 win over Little River, improving to 2-1. Goessel’s Craig Banman has 252 yards rushing with six touchdowns, followed by Travis Fensky with 190 yards and three touchdowns. Austin Unruh has hit 15 of 24 passes for 208 yards with no interceptions and six touchdowns. Unruh has rushed for three touchdowns. Cameron Stultz has 72 yards receiving with two touchdowns. Unruh and Stultz each have 13 total tackles, followed by Fensky with 12.Non-LeagueSalina St. John’s Military at BurrtonBurrton, 0-3, fell to St. John-Hudson 76-26 while Salina St. John, 0-3, lost to Wichita Word of Life 43-20.Eisenhower LeagueWakefield at CentreCentre, 0-3, opened league play with a 60-14 loss to Hope last week while Wakefield fell to 1-2 with a 46-30 loss to Linn. The winner stays in the league race, needing a White City win over Hope to force a tie. Centre scored its first points of the season last week.Centre opens district play next week against Elk Valley.
