fall to MCC

HESSTON — A 23-9 run in the second quarter gave Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley a 93-61 win over Hesston College Wednesday in Hesston.

The Larks trailed 50-22 at the half and 77-39 after three quarters before winning the fourth quarter 22-16.

Tya Bell scored 22 points to lead 2-4 MCC-Penn Valley. Kaylee Vantrump added 20 points.

Connor Atkinson and Carissa Slabach each scored 12 points for Hesston.

Hesston drops to 3-3 and hosts the Southwestern College junior varsity at 6 p.m. Monday.

HESSTON — The Hesston College men’s basketball team got off to a slow start in a 114-83 loss to Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley Wednesday at Yost Center in Hesston.

The Larks trailed 56-31 at the half and managed to stay closer to Penn Valley in the second half.

EITeainte Saunders led 4-1 Penn Valley with 21 points, followed by Roy Meekie with 18, Thomas Bell with 17, Joseph Mebaley with 12, Malik Barnett with 11 and Darius Rice with 10.

Bell had 14 rebounds.

Cal Hartley led Hesston with 21 points, followed by Zac Neely with 20, Coye Campbell with 16 and Aubrey Johnson with 13.

Hesston is 4-2 and hosts the Bethel junior varsity at 7 p.m. Friday.
