The Bethel College women’s basketball team put the defense down against Barclay College to claim a 75-36 win Friday night in non-conference play at Thresher Gym.

Bethel led 22-13 at the end of the first quarter and that was as close as Barclay would get in the game. Bethel led 36-18 at the half and 55-27 after three quarters.

Fantasia Johnson led Bethel with 17 points. Karlie Schroeder and Abby Schmidt each had 11 points each. Schmidt led the team in rebounds with seven.

Sarah Easterwood led 0-1 Barclay with 14 points, followed by Leilani Carrasco with 11 points and six rebounds.

Barclay dressed just six players and turned the ball over 32 times. Bethel held a 37-21 rebounding edge.

Bethel is 4-2 and plays Newman at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Wichita in an exhibition for the Threshers. Bethel opens conference play at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany.
