WICHITA — The Wichita Thunder became the last team in the ECHL to suffer its first loss of the year, falling to the Allen Americans 5-3 Friday at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Wichita led 3-2 after two periods, but Allen scored three unanswered goals in the third. Jonathan Lessard scored two goals for Allen. Vincent Arseneau, Alex Schoenborn and Joel Chouinard each scored a goal. Casey Pierro-Zabotel had two assists.
Louick Marcotte, Zach O’Brien and Mark MacMillan each had a goal for Wichita. Istvan Sofron and Dyson Stevenson each had two assists.
Allen outshot Wichita 43-34. Joel Rumpel had 38 saves in goal for Wichita. Stephon Williams had eight saves in 20:59 for Allen, while Jeremy Brodeur had 33 saves in 39:01.
Allen improves to 4-3-2-0, while Wichita is 6-1-0-0. The two teams meet at 7:05 p.m. today in Allen.
