Platzer shares

ECHL honors

PRINCETON, N.J. — Wichita Thunder forward Kyle Platzer was named the AMI Graphics/ECHL Plus Performers of the month for the month of October.

Platzer gained a plus-minus rating (goals scored for the team while the player is on the ice versus goals scored against the team while the player is on the ice) of +8.

In six games, Platzer has five goals and six assists.

He shares the honor with Michael Joly and Brady Shaw, both of the Colorado Eagles; and Lindsay Sparks of the Atlanta Gladiators.

CONDORDS ASSIGN PLAYERS — The Bakersfield Condors, the Thunder’s AHL affiliate assigned three players to Wichita — center Greg Chase, Evan Polei and defenseman Jamie Doornbosch.

Dornbosch, a second-year pro, played 44 games with Wichita last year, scoring 10 goals with 20 assists. He also played eight games with the Binghamton Senators without a point. He played two games with Wichita before his callup, scoring an assist. He played one game with Bakersfield.

Chase is a third-year pro who spent the last two seasons in Bakersfield, scoring four goals with 36 assists in 67 games. He also played 43 games with Norfolk in 2015-16, scoring 18 goals with 19 assists.

He played one game with Bakersfield this season.

In amateur tryouts, he played five games with Oklahoma City of the AHL in 2014, scoring a goal. He played in four playoff games the following season with an assist.

He was drafted by Edmonton in the seventh round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2013.

Polei is a rookie left wing who played one game for Bakersfield in an amateur tryout last year. He played two games for Bakersfield this year, posting an assist.

He played four seasons in the Canadian Major Junior Western Hockey League, mostly with the Red Deer Rebels, scoring 72 goals with 59 assists in 242 games. He also scored 12 goals with 11 assists in 28 playoff games. He led Red Deer to the WHL Eastern Conference playoff finals in 2016, as well as a semifinal berth in the Memorial Cup (Canadian Major Junior national championships).

McLEAN, Va. — The Midwest Regionals of the 39th annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships will be Nov. 25 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisc.

The meet is open to runners from Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and U.S. citizens in Overseas Military Installations.

There will be a freshman-sophomore boys’ race, the girls’ championship race, the boys’ championship race, the Coach Fed Youth Championships (3,000 meters, open to all runners in the eighth grade or lower), the freshman-sophomore girls’ race, the junior-senior boys race and an open race (open to all runners).

Except where noted, all races are 5,000 meters.

The top 10 finishers advance to the nationals Dec. 9 in San Diego.
