The Bethel College women’s basketball team claimed its first win of the Drew Johnson era with a 91-42 win over Central Christian College Tuesday in non-conference play at Thresher Gym.

Bethel led 19-12 after the first quarter and took things in hand from there, making a 29-6 second-quarter run. Bethel outscored Central 25-9 in the third quarter. The Tigers were able to stay with the Threshers in the fourth.

Bethel was led by Riley Schmieder with 13 points. Newton grad Abby Schmidt scored 12 points, the freshman’s first double-figure scoring effort. Jade Brown scored 11 points. Kylee Schunn and Kelsey Potter each scored 10 points.

Bethel held a 54-25 rebounding advantage. All 13 BC players had at least one rebound. Brown led with seven.
