RIM ROCK FARM — The Newton High School boys’ cross country team ended the season with a 10th-place finish at the Class 5A state meet Saturday at Rim Rock Farm outside of Lawrence.

St. Thomas Aquinas won the team title at 61, followed by Mill Valley at 72, Andover at 108, Bishop Carroll at 115, Great Bend at 122, Maize South at 131, Blue Valley Southwest at 156, Leavenworth at 199, Topeka Seaman at 244, Newton at 249, Lansing at 257 and Emporia at 330.

Ethan Marshall of St. Thomas Aquinas won the race in 15:38.02.

Newton was led by Garrett Mick in 22nd in 16:25.45, missing a medal by two spots and 2.11 seconds.

Erik Jantz finished in 56th in 17:16.00, followed by Erik Brown in 61st in 17:21.66, Jonah Hodge in 86th in 18:09.84, Eli Blaufuss in 88th in 18:14.21, Luke Schmidt in 97th in 18:41.65 and Antonio Negrete in 98th in 18:44.45.

For the Railer girls, Alaina Stucky finished 23rd in 19:59.84. Stucky finished three spots and 16.55 seconds.

Olivia Sovereign of St. Thomas Aquinas won in 18:36.50.

St. James Academy won the girls’ team title at 40, followed by Mill Valley at 45 and St. Thomas Aquinas at 85.
