Sterling 26, Halstead 24
HALSTEAD — The Halstead Dragons ended the regular season with a 26-24 loss to Sterling Thursday in district play.
Despite the loss, Halstead still wins the district title on point-differential tie-breaker and will host Marion Tuesday in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. Hutchinson Trinity was second and Sterling finished third. All three were 2-1 in district play.
For Halstead, Scott Grider rushed for 110 yards, followed by Kaden Kraus with 103 yards. Grider, Dalton Kraus and Aric Propst each rushed for a touchdown. Kaden Kruas ran in three two-point conversion runs.
Halstead was hampered by four turnovers.
Halstead finishes the regular season 4-5.
Central Plains 54, Goessel 0
CLAFLIN — The Goessel Bluebirds fell to Central Plains 54-0 Thursday in district play.
The game was called at the half on the 45-point rule. The game also knocked Goessel out of the playoff race. Central Plains clinched the district title last week.
Central Plains only had 113 yards in total offense, while Goessel was held to 48. Dalton Beck rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns. Alex Hickel, Myles Menges and one other player each rushed for a touchdown. Menges hit a touchdown pass to Brett Liebl. Dalton Beck returned an interception for a touchdown.
Goessel ends the season 2-7.
Prue 28, Moundridge 22
MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge Wildcats fell to Prue, Okla., 28-22 Friday in play in Moundridge.
Dylan Roach led the Prue Rockets with 204 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Jace Horton hit nine of 14 passes for 89 yards. Roach also ran in a 55-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
For Moundridge, Dillon Vogts hit 10 of 25 passes for 164 yards. Vogts also rushed for 82 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown. Jerod Kaufman had 12 yards rushing, but rushed for two touchdowns. Noah Eichelberger had 10 catches for 159 yards.
Prue improves to 8-1. Moundridge ends the season 2-7.
