Coming off one of the better efforts this season for the Bethel College football team, the Threshers will try to seal the deal when they travel to Southwestern at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Jantz Stadium in Winfield.

Southwestern is 2-6, 2-4 in KCAC play. The Moundbuilders upset conference co-leader Bethany 28-14 last week.

Bethel is 0-7, 0-6 in KCAC play, after a 31-26 loss to conference co-leader Sterling.

Southwestern is led by quarterback Christian Gordon, who has hit 114 of 252 passes for 1,285 yards with 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Gordon also has 71 carries for 129 yards and four touchdowns. Keyshawn Wyatt has 92 carries for 458 yards with three touchdowns. Silas Jefferson has 78 carries ford 405 yards and five touchdowns.

Donny Ebanks leads the receivers with 24 catches for 432 yards and five touchdowns. Carvontez Gates has 31 catches for 274 yards and a touchdown.

Mario Esparza has hit eight of 10 field goals with a long of 46 yards. Esparza also averages 40.9 yards a punt.

David Ashilonu leads the defense with 63 tackles, followed by Grant Torgerson with 62 and Marquis Hodge with 58. Tormunci Whitfield has five interceptions.

For Bethel, Dominic Webb has 48 of 99 passes for 578 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. Zach Esau returned to play last week after missing several games with an injury and has hit 29 of 72 passes for 398 yards with three touchdowns and seven interceptions. TyShawn Simon has 86 carries for 291 yards and four touchdowns.

Montero DuBose has 28 catches for 337 yards with two touchdowns. Gary Jolivet has 14 catches for 267 yards and a touchdown.

Brett Mathis has hit five of nine field goal attempts with a long of 38 yards. Mathis averages 32.7 yards a punt.

Jariah Booker leads the defense with 56 tackles, followed by Reggie Young with 47 and Jordan Bell with 46. Young and Charles Johnson each have three interceptions.
