Hesston 45, Marion 24

MARION — The Hesston Swather football team repeated as district champions after a 45-24 win over Marion Thursday in Marion.

Hesston led 22-8 at the half and put the game away with two more unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter.

Parker Roth led the Hesston attack with 12 carries for 181 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Cameron Cox added 26 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Cox also hit five of six passes for 51 yards.

For Marion, Chase Stringer had 23 carries for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Jack Schneider had 14 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Marion falls to 7-2, 2-1 in district play, and will advance to the playoffs as district runner-up.

Hesston is 5-3, 3-0 in district play, and hosts Hutchinson Trinity at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

DEXTER — The Peabody-Burns Warriors ended the season with a 62-58 loss to Cedar Vale-Dexter Thursday in Eight-Man I district play in Dexter.

Peabody-Burns trailed 36-8 at the half, but got within four at the end of the third quarter, 42-38. Each team scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

For Peabody-Burns, Jess Philpott had 40 carries for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Bryan Young hit eight of 17 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns. Rocco Weerts had three catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns.

Cedar Vale-Dexter ends the season 3-6. Peabody-Burns ends the season 2-7.
