Around the AV-CTL II: Week 6

Valley Center (5-0) at Eisenhower (0-5)

Valley Center stayed unbeaten last week with a 24-7 win over Hays in non-league play. Goddard Eisenhower fell to Hutchinson 35-14.

Valley Center moves into second place in the Class 5A, West District standings, following losses for Bishop Carroll and Kapaun-Mt. Carmel. Goddard Eisenhower is in 14th out of 16 teams. A win for Valley Center sets up a key showdown at Goddard next week.

Wyatt Lange returned to the lineup for the Hornets against Hays, hitting four of eight passes for 113 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Larry Wilson has 104 carries for 492 yards and four touchdowns. Wilson also has 157 yards receiving with three touchdowns. Dalton Cross has 10 catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

For Eisenhower, Tyler Trudo has 85 carries for 480 yards and four touchdowns. He also has hit 19 of 36 passes for 198 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Goddard (5-0) at Arkansas City (1-4)

Goddard downed Salina South 38-0 last week on the road to move into the top spot in the Class 5A, West District standings. Arkansas City lost to Maize 21-7 for its third straight loss. The Bulldogs are 13th in the district.

Goddard’s Blake Sullivan has hit 44 of 94 passes for 784 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. Sullivan has 93 carries for 626 yards and nine touchdowns. Owen Beason has 25 catches for 373 yards and three touchdowns. Zack True has 10 catches for 309 yards and five touchdowns.

For Arkansas City, Cevin Clark has hit 45 of 87 passes for 559 yards, four touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Clark also has 70 carries for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Tryee Watkins has 55 carries for 318 yards and four touchdowns. Montez Robinson has 13 catches for 185 yards. Hunter O’Toole has 14 catches for 183 yards and a score.
