Central Kansas League

Larned (1-2) at Halstead (1-2)

While both teams are likely out of the league race, the winner gets a little bit of momentum going into the mid-point of the season.

Halstead got its first win of the season by stopping Kingman 48-7 last week. Larned fell to Hesston 56-35. Halstead jumped out 34-7 last week and cruised in the second half. Larned was in the game with Hesston until giving up a 21-7 fourth quarter.

Halstead’s Dalton Kraus has 470 yards passing, hitting 27 of 32 attempts with no interceptions and seven touchdowns. He also has 168 yards rushing on 26 carries with two touchdowns. Three other Dragon backs have more than 100 yards rushing. Noah Mendez has eight catches for 239 yards and four touchdowns. Kaden Kraus leads the defense with 43 total tackles.

Nickerson (2-1) at Hesston (2-1)

Hesston moved to 2-0 in league play with a 56-35 win over Larned last week, while Nickerson fell to Pratt 28-14 to drop out a tie for first place in the CKL. Nickerson trailed 21-0 at the half, and gave up another touchdowns early in the second half before fighting their way back in the game.

Hesston’s Cameron Cox has hit 45 of 71 passes for 600 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions. Cox also has 260 rushing yards with three touchdowns. Parker Roth has 60 rushes for 665 yards and eight touchdowns. Reese Nebel has 26 catches for 387 yards and three touchdowns.

Heart of America League

Sterling (2-1) at Moundridge (0-3)

Moundridge fell to Ell-Saline 28-14 last week, while Sterling downed Inman 41-7 to stay in the league hunt.

Moundridge’s Jerod Kaufman has 63 carries for 171 yards rushing and a touchdown. Damion Calderon has 26 total tackles and 61 yards rushing with a touchdown. Noah Eichelberger has 20 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns.

Marion (3-0) at Remington (0-3)

Remington fell to Hutchinson Trinity 38-7 last week, while Marion edged Sedgwick 38-35 to stay unbeaten. Marion has two league games remaining after Remington.

Hutchinson Trinity (3-0) at Sedgwick (1-2)

Sedgwick fell to Marion last week, while Trinity downed Remington. Trinity has four league games remaining, including Sedgwick.

Trinity is led by Kaleb Hammeke, who has hit 22 of 42 passes for 230 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Hammeke also has 323 yards rushing with seven touchdowns. Freshman Andrew Bergmeier has 41 carries for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Nolan Clarke has nine catches for 133 yards. Aaron Guerrero has 27 total tackles.

Wheat State League

Peabody-Burns (0-3) at Goessel (0-3)

Wheat State League and Marion County rivals Goessel and Peabody-Burns will both be looking for their first win of the season this week.

Goessel lost to unbeaten Solomon 48-0 last week, while Peabody-Burns fell to Canton-Galva 46-0. The Goessel game ended at halftime. Peabody-Burns lasted until early in the fourth quarter before the 45-point rule kicked in.

For Peabody-Burns, Jess Philpott has 57 carries for 171 yards and four touchdowns. Philpott has 26 total tackles and an interception. Bryant Young has hit 14 of 28 passes for 237 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

For Goessel, Dylan Lindeman has hit 22 of 49 passes for 312 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. Zach Zogleman has 30 carries for 157 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Griffin has nine catches for 128 yards and three touchdowns.

Both teams open district play next week.

Heart of the Plains

Burrton (1-2) at Pretty Prairie (2-1)

Burrton was tripped up by South Barber 52-0 last week, while Pretty Prairie beat Pratt Skyline 49-22.

Pretty Prairie’s Samuel Livingston has 41 carries for 357 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. Livingston has hit nine of 19 passes for 197 yards and four touchdowns. Lane Detter has four catches for 112 yards and three touchdowns.

Burrton opens district play next week.
