The Newton High School volleyball team is on a six-match winning streak after a triangular sweep Tuesday at Ravenscroft Gym.
Newton beat Garden City 25-25-17, 25-19; and Salina Central 25-7, 25-17.
The Railers are 7-1 overall, 1-0 in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play.
Against Garden City, the Railers trailed 10-6 in the first set with three hitting errors and two serving errors. After a time out, Newton gave up three more points before going on an 11-0 run of its own. The Railers allowed just four more points the rest of the way.
Newton jumped out 4-0 in the second set, but Garden City tied it back up at 6-6. Newton made another run. Newton traded points the rest of the way for the match.
Taylor Antonowich had 11 kills and a downed block. Asha Regier had six kills. DesiRay Kernal had five kills and two downed blocks. Maggie Remsberg had three kills and three downed blocks. Kyndal Bacon had three kills. Caroline Barger had two. Barger served two aces.
For Garden City, Reagan Karlin had seven kills. Adisyn Swan had three kills and three downed blocks. Kaitlyn Chappel and Taylor Terpstra each had two kills. Karlin served two aces.
Against Salina Central, Antonowich had eight kills with 11 digs. Bacon and Regier each had four kills. Remberg had seven digs.
Newton is off until Sept. 7, when the Railers play at DeSoto with Gardner-Edgerton.
