SISTER KEY, Fla. — Maggie Remsberg and Taylor Antonowich of Newton finished play in the Girls’ 18U Open Division of the USA Volleyball Junior Beach Championships Tuesday in Sister Key.

Remsberg and Antonowich fell to Oswald and Musselman (first names were not listed) 28-19 in the second round of bracket play.

Remsberg and Antonowich, both Newton High School players, finished the tournament 2-4-1.

Can-Am wins

OTTAWA, Canada — The Can-Am League All-Stars topped the American Association All-Stars 3-2 Tuesday in the annual all-star game between the two independent professional leagues at RCGT Park in Ottawa.

For the Can-Am stars, Brian Burgamy hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. The American Association stars tied the game in the top of the fourth as Wichita Wingnut Matt Chavez grounded out to drive in a run.

In the bottom of the fourth, Yordan Manduley and Danny Grauer each had an RBI single for the Can-Am stars.

The AA stars scored on an error in the eighth inning.

Chavez finished one for four for the AA stars. Wichita’s Harrison Kain went one for three. Wichita’s T.J. Mittelstaedt went 0 for four.

Josh Romanski went two for four for the AA stars.

Edilson Alvarez was credited with the win for the Can-Am stars. Johnny Hellweg got the save. Tyler Alexander took the loss for the AA.

Wichita resumes AA play at 7:05 p.m. today at Cleburne to open a four-game series.
