SISTER KEY, Fla. — Maggie Remsberg and Taylor Antonowich are competing in the Girls’ 18U Open Division of the USA Volleyball Junior Beach Championships, which began Sunday in Sister Key.

After the first two days of competition, the Newton duo is 2-3-1.

There are 89 teams in competition in the division.

Remeberg and Antonowich downed Baumgartner and Kent 21-14, 21-15; tied Nenninger and Wilson 21-19, 19-21; lost to Matsumoto and Collins 21-18, 21-13; beat Nelson and Marquez 21013, 21-7; lost to Brown and Brown 21-12, 16-21; and lost to Rosequist and Rosequist 21-11, 21-11. (First names of competitors were not listed).

They resume competition today in Bronze bracket play.

Threshing Days

5K run set

GOESSEL — The Threshing Days 5K Run will be 7 a.m. Aug. 5 at the southeast corner of Goessel High School.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Goessel High School cross country team.

The entry fee includes an aluminum water bottle, participant medals, refreshments and a Threshing Days button.
