With just a few weeks away from the start of practice, Bethel College football coach Morris Lolar announced the incoming recruiting class for the 2017 season.

Thirty-nine new players were signed - 30 freshmen and nine junior college transfers.

There were nine recruits from Kansas, 10 from Oklahoma, 10 from Texas, six from California, two from Georgia, one from Louisiana and one from Florida.

"This is a solid group of kids, and by no means are we finished with searching for more to add before the season rolls around," Lolar said. "We're building something special here, and I think the community can see that. This will be the first time in recent seasons where we do not have to be dependent on having incoming freshman start right away, before they'd be ready under normal circumstances. If they're talented and show they can start, will they? Sure, but these kids have bought into what our program is about, what Bethel is about, and I am excited to see how they grow around an established core on offense and defense."

Bethel opens the season Sept. 2 at home against Dordt College as part of the KCAC-GPAC Challenge.
