Oz Elite/KC Blackout 2021 got off to strong starts in each half to stop Tulsa’s Most Talented 65-47 Sunday afternoon in the eighth-grade boys’ A bracket finals of the Mid America Youth Basketball Summer Kickoff Tournament at Newton High School.

Oz Elite outscored TMT 36-17 in the second half to overcome a one-point halftime deficit.

“It’s been a long weekend, but the guys finally pulled it together and played together,” Oz Elite coach Jermaine Brown said. “This is our seventh tournament and we finished in the championship game each time. We won four of them. We have tournaments coming up in Las Vegas and Chicago. We also will play in the MAYB nationals. We have guys willing to sacrifice and are willing to win. It doesn’t hurt that we have a guy named Jackie Johnson. Everybody is going out there and doing their job.”

Tae Taft and William McGuire each scored 14 for TMT.
