Schedule change

The Newton High School bowling meet scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Play-Mor Lanes has been moved to Wednesday.

Newton will play at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Salina against Salina Sacred Heart and Junction City.

HESSTON — The Hesston Swather girls topped Smoky Valley 50-20 Friday in Central Kansas League play in Hesston.

The Swathers led 27-11 at the half.

Kailey Jo Ince led Hesston with 14 points, followed by Elise Kaiser with 10.

No Smoky Valley player scored more than six points.

Hesston is 11-4, 6-1 in CKL play, and plays Tuesday at Nickerson.

BRAINARD — The Remington High School girls’ basketball tea, downed Bennington 56-14 Tuesday in HOAL play at Remington.

The Broncos led 27-4 at the half.

Kelcey Hinz and Sage Westerfield scored 17 points each for the Broncos.

Chloe Stanley scored all but three of Bennington’s points.

Remington is 12-3, 5-1 in HOAL play, and hosts Inman Tuesday.

SEDGWICK — The Sedgwick Cardinals put four player in double figures in scoring in a 65-36 win over namesake Ell-Saline in the HOAL “Battle of the Redbirds” in Sedgwick.

Sedgwick led 22-10 after the first quarter and 37-15 at the half.

Sydney Hilliard led Sedgwick with 17 points, followed by Grace Thompson with 12, Macie McGinn with 11 and Shae Ware with 10.

Sydney Omli led 6-9 Ell-Saline with 12 points.

Sedgwick is 12-4 and hosts Marion Tuesday.

Nick Reinert scored nine points for Smoky Valley, 9-6.

Hesston avenges a 51-52 loss to the Vikings in non-league play.

Hesston is 14-1 and plays Tuesday at Nickerson.

The Broncos led 28-23 at the half and 43-39 after three quarters, but were outscored 17-9 in the fourth quarter.

Avery Kidd scored 20 points for Bennington, 10-4, followed by Zac Reed with 15 and J.J. Allen with 15.

Garet Johnson scored 25 points for Remington. Kyle Thiessen added 12.

Remington is 7-8 and hosts Inman Tuesday.
