Engels files for Butler County Commission

Don Engels has filed to run for Butler County Commissioner, District 3, which includes Whitewater, Potwin and Elbing in the northwest part of Butler County.

Engels ran for this county commissioner position four years ago.

“I learned a lot in that race,” Engels said. “One important thing is that I have many friends and acquaintances of various political parties, and they all want the opportunity to vote for me. Because of this, I have decided to file unaffiliated with any political party.” Engels is running as an Independent.

Engels is the financial compliance specialist for the Pyxis corporate office in El Dorado. Prior to this current job, he worked for J L Unruh Trucking in the Elbing area. Engels is retired from the Boeing Company and has served on the board of directors for Rural Water District No. 4 for about four years as the board secretary.

Engels and his wife, Susan, own a small herd of cattle and two hay fields.

“While we don’t earn our living with agriculture, we are exposed to those situations, and I think someone on the county commission should be knowledgeable of issues that concern the rural constituents,” Engels said.
