HALSTEAD —

Frankie Valens, who sang several top 40 hits in his career, spent Thursday afternoon with the Halstead choir to prepare a performance at the school. It was a day choir director Ron Chonister said will leave an impression on his students. "Sometimes to get kids to take the next step they need to meet a professional like Frankie Valens," Chronister said. Valens and his wife Phyllis performed with the choir Thursday, the final performance for the Halstead Choir of the 2007-08 school year.
