He will perform both solo and with the Halstead High School choir as part of the school’s annual pops concert.

“We have lined up the most exciting concert,” said Halstead music teacher Ron Chronister. “Our kids will back him up on “The Lion Sleeps Tonight, “Happy Together” and “Personality”.

Valens’ wife, Phylis Valens, will also perform during the concert. Phylis Valens is a pianist.

The school will also have Industrial and visual arts show in the gym.

The choir will have a bake sale proceeding the free concert.

Proceeds from the bake sale will go into a scholarship fund to aid students who wish to sing with the choir March 24, 2009, at Carnegie Hall in New York, N.Y. under international director John Rudder.

“I am unbelievably excited that this was offered to us,” Chronister said.
