Remington schools say goodbye to long-time employees

WHITEWATER —

Remington schools will say goodbye to four staff members which represent more than 100 years of experience with a retirement reception from 2 to 4 p.m. May 18 in the Remington High School commons area.

Retiring from the district at the end of the school year are Nyla Friesen, Jocelyn Shields, Joan Sommers and Greg Tompkins.

Friesen is the senior member of the group, having 30 years experience in USD 206 as a teacher.

Tompkins is not far behind, the music teacher has been part of Remington schools for 28 years.

Sommers has been a bus driver and cook for the school system for 23 years, while Shields has served as a teacher for 21 years.
