I know of nothing crazier than religious crazy. And it isn't limited to a particular brand. Once someone gets the idea that he/she has perfect communion with God, all Hell breaks loose. The rest of us are just infidels, in need of a thorough whipping into shape.

Over the past several years I have learned to appreciate the Walton Rural Life Center and have participated in tours and fund-raisers. Children are excited to go to school and test results reflect their engagement in the classroom. It is unique and different, as shown by the stream of visitors inquiring about what “works” here. I find it curious that the school has a five-year waiting list for admission―and our School Board chooses not to support additional classroom [...]

�Once again, the people of Newton were treated to beautiful cemeteries over the Memorial Day weekend, the red, white and blue flying proudly to honor our service men and women who are no longer with us. And once again, there are many people involved that make this happen every year. A big "thank you "goes out to:

- The people who do the mowing and upkeep of Greenwood, St. Mary's and Restlawn cemeteries, and pick up over 1700 grave site flags after Memorial Day.

I would like to invite all area baseball fans to come out and watch the two Newton American Legion Baseball teams and the Newton Rebels summer college baseball team play this summer.

Games are played at Centennial Park on Klein-Scott Field.

Come out and support our Newton teams. We hope to see you at the games.

The U.S. Supreme Court in Torcaso v. Watkins, 81 S.Ct. 1681 (1961), stated the following: "Among religions in this country which do not teach what would generally be considered a belief in the existence of God are Buddhism, Taoism, Ethical Culture, Secular Humanism, and others."

Secular Humanism is a religion. The U. S. Supreme Court says sot! And Evolution is an integral part of the religion of Humanism!

To honor a 54 year tradition, a group of senior parents organized and hosted a senior all night party at the Newton Recreation Center.�One hundred thirty six�students attended the event May 18.
