Wednesday
• Awana will begin from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Newton Bible Church, 900 Old Main St. and continue each Wednesday.
All children ages 3 through 8 years old are welcome.
Those who participate will follow a program involving games, Bible memory and instruction designed for their age groups. The second-grade handbook has been revised and the third through six grades will have new awards.
Awana is an international ministry that involves more than 18,000 churches and more than 1 million kids across the globe.

• Church members start at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and fellowship.
Children’s Church, for those ages 3 years old to third grade, and nursery care for children birth through 3 years old during the service and during Sunday school. Sunday school classes for all ages are at 9:15 a.m.
Sept. 15
• Have you ever asked yourself, “Am I a true believer in Jesus Christ, our Savior? Or “I pray, but why doesn’t God hear me?” Or “I try to do my best, so why is that not good enough?”
The community is invited to St. Luke for Wednesday evening fellowship meetings for a 10-week DVD series by pastor and teacher Chip Ingram from Living on the Edge Ministry.
The study will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning on Sept. 15 and ending Nov. 15. Study guides are $6.99 and are available by calling the church office at 283-2191. Babysitting will be provided for study attendees.

Catholic
Thursdays
• St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 106 E. Eighth St. in Newton, will offer Financial Peace University, the 13-week program taught by financial adviser Dave Ramsey.
The classes will be from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning Sept. 9 at the church.
The program teaches families and individuals how to handle their money through common-sense principles and small group accountability.

Included in the cost of the kit is a lifetime family membership to FPU, allowing the participant to return to any class at any time for a refresher course.

Sept. 12
• Financial Peace University, the 13-week program taught by financial adviser Dave Ramsey, will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 12 at Grace Community Church, 1000 S. Anderson St. in Newton.

• St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church will have Sunday morning worship with Eucharist at 10:15 a.m. A nursery will be provided.

• The Payee Program will meet at 10 a.m. in Parish Hall.

• Wednesday evening prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel.
• Morning Glories Prayer Circle will meet from 10:30 to noon in the lounge.

• First Presbyterian Church will provide a nursery for all morning services. Sunday school classes for all ages will be from 9:15 to 10:10 a.m. Fellowship time will be in the narthex from 10:10 to 10:30 a.m.
The 10:30 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary will include communion, a message by Pastor Jim Anderson and music by the chancel choir.
• The middle school youth group will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
• The high school youth will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church.

• The First Presbyterian youth groups will meet at 7:15 a.m. at Druber's for doughnuts and fellowship.

• The “Bible at Breakfast” group will meet at C.J.’s Pancake House, 1525 E. First St., for Bible study and breakfast. All are invited.
• Presbyterian Women’s Circles will meet at various times during the day and evening.
• The bell choir will rehearse at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
• The chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. in the choir loft.
Thursday
• S.C.O.T.S. will meet for lunch at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at El Cerrito restaurant in Hesston. They will return to the church to work on sewing projects from 1 to 4 p.m.
Swiss Church
in Whitewater
Oct. 2 and 3
• Swiss Church at 125 S. Oak St. in Whitewater will celebrate a “Harvest of Praise” on Oct. 2 and 3 in recognition of its 125th anniversary.
The celebration will be during the Whitewater Festival.
Events on Oct. 2 will include threshing demonstrations every hour starting at 1:30 p.m.; corn shocking and shucking; horses; a bridal display through the years; missionaries from the past and present; a homemade chicken noodle supper with homemade pies and live music. A free-will offering will be taken.
Events on Oct. 3 will include a praise service with potluck following.
