Highland Trinity
United Church
of Christ
Sunday
• Highland Trinity United Church of Christ is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the constuction of its present church building at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
The church was dedicated in August 1910. The church was organized in the 1800s and met a half mile north of its present location in a building that also housed District 53 school and served as a meeting place for the local Grange.
The south addition of the present building was added in the 1960s, and a foyer was constructed on the west end about 10 years ago.
Many of the German settlers met in the church, with its services held in the German language, until about 1915, when they switched the services to all English.
Many local families still recognize Highland as its original family church.
All are welcome to join the church at its rededication ceremony.
A reception will follow the service.
