Oct. 2 and 3
• Swiss Church at 125 S. Oak St. in Whitewater will celebrate a “Harvest of Praise” on Oct. 2 and 3 in recognition of its 125th anniversary.
The celebration will be during the Whitewater Festival.
Events on Oct. 2 willinclude threshing demonstrations every hour starting at 1:30 p.m.; corn shocking and shucking; horses; a bridal display from through the years; missionaries from the past and present; a homemade chicken noodle supper with homemade pies and live music. A free-will offering will be taken.
Events on Oct. 3 will include a praise service with potluck following.

• Tom Robson will present a sermon titled “Solid Ground in Uncertain Times,” referring to Psalm 19:1-14, at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 808 E. Sixth St. in Newton.
In verses 1 through 6, the Psalmist points to God’s Glory in being aware of His handiwork. Verses 7 through 11 point to God’s Word and, in verses 12 through 14, we are called to look at our own frailty and the work of God’s grace within us.
Church members start at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with a continental breakfast and fellowship.
Children’s Church, for those ages 3 years old to third grade, and nursery care for children birth through 3 years old, is available during the service and during Sunday school.
Grace Community Church
Sept. 12
• Financial Peace University, the 13-week program taught by financial adviser Dave Ramsey, will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 12 at Grace Community Church, 1000 S. Anderson St. in Newton.

First Presbyterian Church
Sunday
• The 10:30 a.m. worship service at First Presbyterian Church will feature a sermon by Pastor Jim Anderson and music by the chancel choir.
The church will provide a nursery for all morning services. It will have Sunday school classes for all ages from 9:15 to 10:10 a.m. Sunday. Fellowship time will be from 10:10 to 10:30 a.m. in the narthex.
• Church members and friends can attend the Sixth Annual Ice Cream Social from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the church. Homemade ice cream of all flavors and home-baked cakes will be served. The public is invited.
• All of the church youth will meet at 6 p.m. in the youth room. Parents will join them at 7 p.m.
• The worship and music committee will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday to make plans for fall and the Christmas season.

Wednesday
• The chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the choir loft.
Thursday
• At 11:45 a.m. Thursday, the Presbyterian Church’s S.C.O.T.S. will meet for lunch at El Cerrito Mexican restaurant in Hesston. Following lunch, the group will return to the church to work on sewing projects.

• Zion is seeking vendors for its Fall Craft and Flea Market on Oct. 9. Booth rental is $25 for a 10-by-10 space. Crafters, “collectors” and distributors are welcomed to apply. • Burrton United Methodist Church will host a “Dinner and a Show” for all ages on Sunday.
There will be a free hamburger and hot dog dinner at 6 p.m., followed by Glenda & Mike’s Magic Show at 7 p.m.
Glenda and Mike Mann of Hutchinson are a husband and wife team who make their living ministering in a unique way.
They combine illusions, and ventriloquism to convey the message of the gospel.
