Dyck Arboretum in Hesston is hosting a class “Living Your Best Creative Life: Holiday Idea Take Home” from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, taught by Julie Irish Torseth, arboretum director.

Torseth explains why she is making time to teach this class.

“Our imaginations are the best preventative for melancholy, illness, whatever ails us. I’ll demonstrate some wonderfully imaginative Thanksgiving and Christmas ideas that will make you feel good and inspire your own creativity. They are so easy to do. This is what you’ll take home with you: A taste of an easy Thanksgiving hors d’oeuvres along with the recipe, the experience of roasting chestnuts so you can do it yourself and impress family and friends, your own beautiful Christmas wreath made of sweet gum balls as seen in Martha Stewart Living (all materials furnished — just bring your own glue gun), and a clever — and simple — Christmas gift idea as seen at Nell Hill's.”

The cost is $25, or you can purchase a new membership to the arboretum for yourself or as a gift for someone. One of the benefits of membership is free admission to more than 200 gardens in the United States and Canada. Proceeds benefit the arboretum. Make reservations at (620) 327-8127.
