Even though I haven’t known Barbara Bunting my entire life, what I do know about her is she is caring, honest and smart. She deserves another four years on the Newton School Board.
My wife, Marguerite, wanted the best education for our children. As graduates of Newton High School, they had a good education. They learned more than facts; they played violin and sports; they learned the value of work and how to be responsible. Barbara talks about this even today.
As a Newton “Railroader” (class of ‘40), I was held to high standards. Barbara and today’s board of education have raised those standards and continue to prepare students for good jobs.
As a Sante Fe “Railroader,” I know my fellow workers who were transferred to Newton were proud to send their sons and daughters to the Newton schools. I am proud to be a “Railroader” today.
Kids are the same, but times have changed. Newton expects their children to do well in school and in life. Barbara Bunting expected her own children to do well in school and in life. She makes sure Newton’s values and her values are taught in all of our schools. Barbara takes the time to show kindness to people like me. She takes her “job” on the school board seriously. It seems like that is all she does! I see her at church, at ball games and helping others. She is always “on the go.’’
I am going to vote for Barbara Bunting. If you can believe an “old guy” like me who knows how important schools are to Newton and our grandchildren’s future, you should vote for her, too.
