Respect: It seems with the economy there seems to be less respect for the living and also the deceased.
I had many calls from my class of 41 members and my American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 2 members about the disrespect on June 20 of the funeral procession for my classmate and Auxiliary sister. There was no police escort to the cemetery, and it did endanger the whole procession crossing that dangerous U.S. Highway 50.Who makes arrangements for the escorts, and are they paid? I myself do not know. But when my beloved Woodie was called to Heaven, I am sure the mortuary took care of this escort deal. The main thing about this day and time was the weather was really bad and the escort was needed badly. There were three Patriot Guards riding to honor our beloved Arlene, who was a member of the ALA Unit No. 2, 21 years as she had made approximately 100 lap robes for the VA hospital, cookies and ditty bags. I can’t count the number. What has happened to our community not to honor a veteran’s wife whose husband passed away Memorial Day working putting up flags for his comrades? Think, think people. We do need more love, less greed and our country, God Bless America, would be much better off and kinder. God bless Arlene Yotter, our beloved classmate, and God bless her family. We all know she will be missed. She was loved by all.— Juanita George, North NewtonENORTH NEWTON —
