LETTER: Newton Lions Club Pancake Day was successful fund-raiser

The Newton Lions Club thanks the community of Newton and North Newton for the wonderful support of the Nov. 3 Pancake Day fund-raising event.

This was the 62nd year of The Newton Lions Club’s annual pancake event to raise funds for local charities, Kansas Lions Foundation and the Lions Clubs International Funds.

Partnerships were established with Harvey County United Way, Trinity Heights Respite Care, Health Ministries Clinic, Newton Recreation Commission, Harvey County Safe House, Harvest of Love-Salvation Army, Newton Meals on Wheels, Newton Community Children’s Choir, Peace Connections-Circle Initiatives, Newton Mid-Day Lions Club members, Newton Medical Center and members of the Saturday Knight Travelers Lions Club in McPherson to assist in the event.

We thank the many local businesses for becoming sponsors, contributing in various ways, to assist us in creating enjoyable gatherings, provide a hearty meal and raise funds.
