I really enjoy the free guided exercise program at the Newton Area Senior Center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Those of us who participate feel it is a good program and would like to invite others to join us. It includes stretching, strengthening, flexibility and a range of motion exercises — about half from a sitting position.

It is based on Arthritis Foundation recommendations. It is “free” and does not require a doctor’s prescription, though doctors might well recommend it.

Please come and enhance your wellness if you are older than 50 and would enjoy an exercise program.

A similar program called “Silver Sneakers” is available from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Newton Activity Center to members and participants in the Human and Coventry Medicare Advantage programs and to others for a small fee.

Wellness advocates encourage walking for endurance. These are enjoyable programs to supplement and enhance your health- maintenance activities.

Your participation is invited and encouraged.

— Sincerely,

Martha Graber,

Newton
