I am writing in support of the re-election of Barbara Bunting to the Newton USD 373 school board.
I have known Barbara as a friend, community volunteer and advocate for more than 20 years. Her dedication, hard work and passion for education are evident in any task she takes on.
In addition to the school board, Barbara has served on the boards of directors at Northview Developmental Services, Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra and Kidron Bethel.
During her time volunteering and working at Northview, Barbara championed the developmentally disabled and educated herself on the rights, needs and challenges of a very vulnerable population. She applied herself with sincerity and compassion to improve services; providing a voice for many who could not speak for themselves.
As a musician, I appreciate Barbara’s ongoing support of the arts in the community. She regularly attends symphony concerts, bringing her children from an early age, and was active in the Newton Dance Center, Newton Community Theatre and school orchestra, band and vocal programs throughout the years when her son and daughter were participants.
Barbara has served two terms on the school board and is currently immediate past president of the Kansas Association of School Boards. The Newton School board needs experienced board members as it deals with the current financial concerns.
Barbara has the background and knowledge to make informed decisions. Please join me in voting for Barbara Bunting.
