NEWTON —

I am writing this letter to the people of Newton and, especially, Newton High School football fans.

This Friday at Fischer Field, our varsity football team plays Kapaun-Mt. Carmel for the district championship.

A Newton win would mean we will have a home game the following Friday in the first round of regional play.

We need an overflow crowd to encourage our team.

Kapaun-Mt. Carmel will have a large turnout of their fans from Wichita, and we need to drown them out with our cheers.

We are very fortunate to have Brian Engelken as our athletic director; Brant Glann as our head football coach; and Tad Remsberg as our defensive coach.

Our freshman football team, coached by Steve Webb and Cody Witte, is undefeated. One of the best wins was to defeat McPherson 44 to 14.

So, let’s have a huge turnout and inspire our NHS football team with loud cheers when they take the field Friday night.
