NEWTON —
On behalf of the Harvey County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task Force, I would like to thank the Women’s Community Fund Advisory Committee and members for their generous gift to our program and the families we work with.
We serve those who are survivor/victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services meet the needs not only for victims seeking shelter but also for outreach victims and their families outside of the Safe House. In the last three months, we have assisted more than 251 victims and their children in Harvey County through individual advocacy, shelter, support group, direct aid and the crisis line.Women’s Community Fund will help provide resources and a more financially secure life for victims and their families with direct aid for families with support for rent, utilities, car expenses, dental/medical and children needs.Because Harvey County is a rural area, victims of domestic violence and sexual assault we work with face unique barriers to leave abusive relationships and seek services. Through our support groups and individual advocacy, WCF will enhance our services by providing relevant and additional resources and options on finances, career and education. Objectives will focus on activities and resources that will support victims in regaining control of their financial lives and begin a better future for them and their children. These funds also will provide support for expenses with our adult and children’s support groups for resources, supplies and meal preparation. With the wonderful support of the Women’s Community Fund, we are able to provide the needed services for the Harvey County victim’s and their children we serve. — Respectfully,Jan Jones, executive director,Harvey County DV/SA Task Force
