Lyda Schneider, 93, passed away on Sunday (Aug. 29, 2010) at Asbury Park in Newton.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1917, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to John and Katherine (Hilderman) Steinmark.
She married John Schneider on May 25, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Neb. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2002.
Lyda formerly lived in WaKeeney and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, John David Schneider of WaKeeney; daughter, Nancy Law of Newton; sisters, Elsa Lundgren of Scotts Bluff, Neb., Frieda Dietz of Hayward, Calif., and Dorothy Reichert of Moses Lake, Wash.; five grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schneider; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Trego Center.
Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Trego Center.
Memorials may be made to Asbury Park care facility or Zion Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS 67672.
