Ronald Ornelas of Newton, 52, died on Wednesday (Nov. 18, 2009) at Via Christ St. Francis in Wichita.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1957, to Guadalupe (Casanova) and Donato M. Ornelas in Wichita.
On Jan. 22, 1993, he married Karen Johnston in Newton.
Ronald held a membership with the Life Point Church A/G in Valley Center. He had a strong faith and loved his Lord God Almighty.
He was employed by Mid-Continent Cabinetry of Newton for 11 years.
Ron’s love for his children and his family was shown in many ways. He almost always could be found at any of their activities or in the middle of a local wrestling match in the family living room.
He was a devoted father and husband. He had many hobbies, but to name a few were fishing, movies, singing and dancing. Ron loved Elvis’ music and made it a point to be the center of attention at most family functions.
Many friendships were created during his lifetime. He served as an instructor for the Ultimate Martial Arts Club in Newton and was involved with the Newton Wrestling Club and the Newton Warrior Football Club.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; three sons, Matthew, Jarrod and Noah, of Newton; a daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband Brandon of Newton; father, Donato M. Ornelas of Newton; brother, Martin Ornelas of Wichita; six sisters, Brenda and Larry McKellips of Wichita, Nancy Carr of Wichita, Tillie and James Dellaquila of Florida, Gina Ornelas and Brent Hugart of Utah, Marjean and Lalo Herrera of Wichita, and Melissa and David Hayward of Texas; three grandchildren, Brandon Jr. Moore, Aiden Moore and Caleb Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Guadalupe Ornelas, and a brother, Donato Ornelas Jr.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Life Point Church A/G in Valley Center.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, make memorials to the Ronald Ornelas Educational Fund, in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
